Our Apprentice run crew poses with the cast of A Tuna Christmas

All apprentices must be a part of at least one production run crew during the season. Run Crew duties may include being on book during rehearsals, setting props before a show, working back stage during the production, doing set changes, setting costumes, working sound or lighting effects, and cleaning up following the performance.

Apprentices are encouraged to attend as many rehearsals as possible.  Regular attendance is the best way for the apprentice to become comfortable with the cast, play and crew responsibilities.  The crew start date will be determined by the play’s director.  (When you receive your crew assignment, you will receive director contact information. You are encouraged to contact the director immediately.)

It is MANDATORY for apprentices to participate in all rehearsals beginning the Saturday before Tech Sunday (six days before the opening performance) and all performances throughout the run.

OUTLINE OF A TYPICAL TECH WEEK:

Run Crew for The Audience
Run Crew for The Audience
  • Tech Sunday is a long day/eve. You will be required to arrive 1-2 hours before actors to assist with preparing props for the start of rehearsal.  Pam Pasternak will determine your arrival time but it is often mid to late morning.  The typical Tech Sunday includes a double rehearsal, with dinner served by a Board member to cast and crew between runs.  Tech Sunday typically ends between 9 and 11 p.m.
  • Tech/dress Monday tends to be the latest rehearsal of tech week. Your arrival time will be determined by Pam, based upon the complexity of props.  For actors, this is typically the night of the photo shoot and therefore rehearsal may start around 8:00 p.m.  It is also the evening that all tech/lighting/sound cues will be worked through.  The director and Pam will determine time of dismissal but expect that it will be a late evening (close to 11pm) and that you will be needed throughout the entire rehearsal.
  • Tech Tuesday typically runs fairly smoothly and true to time. Your arrival time will be determined by Pam and/or SM and you will be required to stay through the entire rehearsal.
  • Final Dress/Tech Wednesday. The run begins at 8:00 pm.  Your arrival time will be determined by the SM.  The play almost always runs true to time.  You will be needed throughout the entire rehearsal.
Apprentices should only sign up for a crew if they can make a 100% commitment to attend all mandatory rehearsals and performances for that production. All crew requests are due to Jena (jena@littlelake.org) by Sunday, April 1. Crew assignments will be handed out at a mandatory apprentice meeting on Sunday April 8th from 4:30-6:30 pm
