I CAN DO THAT!  Acting Class

Ages:  18 and over 

Little Lake Theatre will offer an acting class for those people who, on occasion, have sat in an audience and found themselves thinking, “I can do that!”  This class will be appropriate for both beginning and intermediate level students.  The focus will be on scene and monologue work, and audition techniques. All work will be geared towards the individual student’s experience and comfort level.  Theatre exercises and games will be used to support all aspects of character development.  And, during one of the class sessions, students will be given the opportunity to observe and analyze a working dress rehearsal. 

The course is designed to be respectful, informative, supportive and FUN.  Returning students and those actors with stage experience will be given the opportunity to fine-tune skills and approach the work in new ways.  This class will also benefit anyone in the business world who might want to become more comfortable speaking, or making presentations, before an audience. 

The acting classes will be held on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., March 4-June 3, 2008 at a location near Little Lake Theatre.  A performance showcase for family and friends will be held at Little Lake Theatre on May 27^th, and during the final class on June 3, students will reflect, review and party!  Little Lake Theatre’s Artistic Director, Sunny Disney Fitchett, will team teach the class with Art DeConciliis, a veteran of more than 100 Little Lake productions and recently named one of the 2007 Performers of the Year by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.   

Former students have become involved at Little Lake and other local companies as actors, stage managers and volunteers. 

Class fee:  $185.00    The first 8 sessions will be held at a location near Little Lake.  The remaining  classes will be held at the theater.

 A non-refundable deposit of $25.00 must be submitted with your application.  This deposit will guarantee a space and will be credited to your final payment.  Payment in full may be made upon application or at the first class.  You will be notified (and your deposit returned) only in the event the class is sold-out when your application is received.  Special arrangements may be made for a payment plan by contacting Sunny @ 412-561-4402.  When your application is received, you will receive directions to the class location.
