Lend Me A
Tenor
By Ken Ludwig
JULY 24-AUGUST 9
Big laughs. Big farce.
Midsummer always seems to be the perfect time to enjoy a wildly
entertaining, screwball comedy and this one guarantees a wild romp
of desperate measures and giddy mischief.
The Cleveland Grand Opera has hired world-famous tenor, Tito Merelli,
to launch its gala 1934 season. Suddenly, the star is missing—or
indisposed—or unconscious—or maybe dead. The plot thickens and so
does the laughter.
Director Carol Lauck has assembled a
first-rate cast of divas (and we mean that in the best sense of the
word): Warren Ashburn, Jesse Warnick, Lynne
Martin Huber, Mary Meyer, Ina Block, Dennis Gills, Renee Ruzzi-Kern,
Gus Melis. Gretchen Wagner creates the gorgeous 1930’s
costumes.
