Lost in Yonkers
By Neil Simon
August 19-21,
26-29 and September 2-4
When we first presented this
Pulitzer Prize winning Neil Simon comedy in 1994, we held it
over for a week because of sold-out houses.
Many have called this play the
best Neil Simon comedy ever written. The
story: On a hot afternoon in August, 1942,
two young boys are deposited to live with their stern Grandma
Kurnitz and childlike Aunt Bella over the family’s candy store
in Yonkers,
New York.
There are moments in this play
when “you experience
a new kind of laughter—a silent laughter that doesn’t explode
into a yuk but implodes straight into your heart.”
Director Charita Nemec’s
fine cast includes Pete Fernbaugh,
Cathy Grecco, Mary Liz Meyer, John McGovern, Ben Nadler, Bob Rak
and Pat Cena Samreny.
