Macbeth Pre-Show Guide
As the capstone of our 70th Anniversary season, Macbeth will be unlike many Little Lake productions in that it sets the opening scenes of Act I outdoors on the theater campus.
If you're a frequent patron, you may notice some differences in your experience for this show, and this guide will help prepare you for what's changed for this production. All of the changes below are only for Macbeth.
Check out our video guide, featuring Jared Pfennigwerth (Macbeth), Samantha Rund (Lady Macbeth), and Jena Oberg (Director of Macbeth and Little Lake Artistic Director)
How will the outdoor scenes work?
The first few scenes of Act I are designed to be experienced by our audience outdoors. Groups of 30 patrons will travel from location to location on the Little Lake campus (weather permitting) watching the opening of the play outdoors in settings selected to represent the atmosphere of the Scottish countryside.
Each patron will be assigned a specific tour time (i.e. 7:45pm), with each tour of the scenes taking about 15 minutes to complete. The tours will begin at the double grey doors located on the parking lot side of the building (next to our bar area) and will end across from our historic rehearsal barn. After each tour is complete, patrons will find their seats in the theater, with the rest of the play beginning at the end of the last tour.
For patrons who have mobility concerns or do not wish to travel outdoors, a 7:30pm showing of the opening scenes inside the theater will be available.
If you have already purchased tickets, or are a subscriber, our box office staff (Sylvia or Niki) will be contacting each party to schedule a specific tour time for everyone in your group. If you have not already purchased tickets, you can choose your tour time at the time of purchase over the phone or on our website.
In case of severe weather (thunder/lightning), the entire performance will be given inside the theater.
When should I arrive?
Make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before your show time (7:35pm for a 7:45pm tour group), or come at 7:00pm to enjoy our pre-show talk-see below for more details.
Parking
All cars will enter and exit through our back entrance, as marked in the green circle on the map to the right. Part of the outdoor scenes will include crossing our normal entrance drive, so for everyone's safety, we will only be utilizing our back entrance.
Entering the theater/picking up your tickets
For this production, we ask that you enter the theater through the double glass doors on the right side of the building as indicated on the map to the right (the doors are across from the suitcase image). From there you can pick up your tickets at the Box Office.

Pre-Show Talk
Macbeth also features a pre-show talk from 7:00pm - 7:25pm. The talk will feature Artistic Director Jena Oberg (the director of Macbeth), and Samantha Rund (Lady Macbeth) will discuss the production concept, themes, tips on how to listen to Shakespearean language, and special insights into the elements that make this show the capstone of our 70th Anniversary season.
Ordering food/drinks
As patrons will be moving around the theater before the majority of Macbeth, our wait staff will be taking food orders at the Box Office. You can order your dessert or appetizers at any point before 8:00pm; the show menu will be emailed to all patrons in advance. Make sure to give our staff your ticket so that we know where to deliver your food during intermission.
Our bar will still be open for service as it is for all other MainStage performances.
